Book description
In the Glass Spires, magic is spun from silver dust and memory. The cities glitter. The weavers who hold them up pay for it quietly, one forgotten moment at a time.
For one weaver, the bill is coming due. A name has slipped out of reach. The archives whisper about a history someone worked hard to bury, and a shard found near the Chasm hums with something old and very much awake. Following that thread leads out through the Borderlands and down into the Under-City, into the company of outcasts, rebels and a broken mentor who has paid the same price before.
This is epic fantasy on a grand scale: a rebellion catching fire, armies converging, a siege at the Rift and a god stirring beneath the world. But the fight that matters most happens inside one person. Every victory asks the same question: how much of yourself can you spend before there's nothing left worth saving?
It's a long, absorbing read for anyone who wants a world deep enough to get lost in, a magic system with real rules and real costs, and a protagonist whose strength is never free. Settle in. The Glass Spires are fragile, and so is everything built on them.

Look inside
The Silver Dust
The air tasted of static and ozone. Not the clean tang of a coming storm, but the metallic burn of spent energy, of the very earth struggling to hold itself together. Dust, fine and silver, swirled around Kaelen’s boots, kicked up by the frantic hooves of the pack-beasts. The caravan, a ragged string of covered wagons and weary merchants, had been pushing north for three days, skirting the edge of the Glimmering Chasm, and the tension had been tightening with each league. He could feel it in the pinched faces of the drivers, the way they constantly scanned the bruised purple sky, the feverish clutching of charms and wards.
He wasn’t here for their peace of mind. He was here for the coin. Vanguard Captain, disgraced and stripped of his command after the debacle at Blackrock Pass, Kaelen Vance now traded his skills as a Skein-Weaver for whatever scraps he could find. It wasn’t glory, but it paid for the specialized tinctures that slowed the creeping emptiness within his mind. Every application of kinetic force, every gravity-shift, demanded a price. A memory.
The beasts came without warning. Not the lumbering, grotesque horrors rumored to crawl from the Void, but something… faster. Lean, obsidian shapes, like shadows given teeth and claws, erupting from the warped landscape beyond the skeletal trees. Void-spawned skraelings. They moved with a jerky, unsettling grace, their bodies phasing in and out of focus as if unsure of their own existence. Five of them. Enough to scatter the caravan, to bleed the merchants dry, to earn Kaelen a decent sum if he moved quickly.
“Brace yourselves!” he barked, his voice roughened by disuse and regret. “Form a circle. Keep the beasts between you and the wagons.”
Panic flared, predictable and irritating. Merchants scrambling, drivers shouting, pack-beasts braying in terror. He suppressed a sigh. Discipline wasn’t a luxury he could afford to demand. He needed action, and he needed it now.
He extended a hand, palm open towards the nearest skraeling, and felt for the Skein. The ley-lines of Aether-glass, the world’s circulatory system, thrummed beneath the soil. Here, at the edge of the Chasm, the Skein was frayed, depleted. The silver dust that flowed through it felt gritty, almost… reluctant. He had to coax it, to pull the energy upwards, to weave it into a kinetic shield.
His vision blurred for a heartbeat, a fleeting image of sun-drenched stone and climbing roses. His grandmother’s garden. Gone. Erased. The first thread of memory sacrificed to the Skein. He pushed the pang of loss aside. Sentiment was a weakness.
The shield materialized as a shimmering wall of distorted air, intercepting the skraeling’s first lunge. The creature slammed into the barrier, momentarily stunned, its shadowy form flickering violently. Good. But one shield wouldn't be enough. There were four more.
“Faster, Captain!” a merchant shrieked, clutching a jeweled amulet. “They’re getting through!”
Kaelen ignored him. Focus. He needed to conserve his energy. Simple kinetic pushes would suffice for the weaker beasts. He extended his awareness, weaving strands of force into the legs of another skraeling, sending it stumbling and sprawling. A quick, brutal twist of the Skein, and its momentum carried it crashing into a wagon wheel. Wood splintered. The creature howled, a sound like wind whistling through broken glass.
He moved with a fluid, economical grace honed by years of training. Each step, each gesture, a calculation of force and energy expenditure. He wasn’t fighting with brute strength, but with precision, with an understanding of the Skein that bordered on instinct. He manipulated gravity, subtly altering the weight of the skraelings, throwing them off balance, making them easier targets. He directed the momentum of their own attacks back against them.
But the Skein was thinning. Each weave, each manipulation, felt more difficult, more draining. The images flickered faster now, more insistent. The scent of woodsmoke. The laughter of ...
